Pouring, Pouring, POURING. It rained hard ALL DAY today. According to the news casts we got anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain in 24 hours. That’s crazy. It’s just too bad we left the sandbox out with the lid off. Oops.

Halloween in the House. We brought out the Halloween decor to help us all get in the spirit of the holiday. As long as things aren’t scary, the girls like the idea of Halloween (Chelsea cries in Target when we go by the Halloween section and the skeleton guy’s eyes light up and he makes noise). When Mallory saw the lights on the mantel she asked if it was Christmas.

Show and Tell. Today was the last day of the first session of Mallory’s gymnastics class that she’s taking at the NRH Recreation Center. For the last day, the parents got to watch the class to see what the kids are working on. On the beam, Mallory walked backwards and jumped with two feet along the length of it. On the floor she did forward rolls, attempted backward rolls, and did handstands against the wall. On the bars she had to move across the bar like a monkey, swinging and holding her legs up. She’ll continue with the gymnastics classes and is signed up for the next session.

Story Time. The girls quietly sat *reading* books in the hall before bedtime. Chelsea, the shoes obsessed girl, has on Mallory’s shoes. Her feet aren’t that big quite yet.

Icy Entertainment. Jonathan’s work had a tailgate party at Texas Christian University (TCU) today (we didn’t stay for the football game). The girls couldn’t keep their hands out of the tub of ice used to keep the drinks cold. At least it kept them busy.

Outdoor fun. The girls love to kick, roll and throw their bouncy balls in the backyard. They each have favorites so there aren’t too many fights about who has which one, yet.

The Ladies. Mid-summer we decided to have a cleaning service come to the house every two weeks. Mallory refers to the cleaning ladies as “the ladies” and boy do we appreciate the work they do. It’s hard enough to keep the house tidy with two busy little girls, let alone clean it on a regular basis. This is how the family room looks after they leave. It stays this way for maybe half a day, a full day IF we’re lucky.

Summit. Chelsea finally made it to the top of Mount Pillows and was quite proud. Her hair looks pretty red here, but most of the time is seems more blondish or dirty-blonde.

Hang to Dry. The majority of the girls’ clothes are washed on gentle/in cold and are hung to dry (except for undies, most socks, some PJs and some jeans go into the dryer). Lucia thinks this helps reduce washwear, fading and keeps the clothes looking like nicer longer.

Confirmation. We went to an prenatal imaging center to get another look at the baby and to confirm that it’s a girl. It took the tech awhile to feel confident saying the baby is a girl, but in the end she found the right parts and we indeed have another girl on the way.

More here.

On Display. Mallory and one of her many organized displays of her things: small books and creatures.

Handle with Care. The girls got some Halloween window clings and couldn’t keep their hands off of them. The clings didn’t hold up well to the girls’ handling of them. One of the pumpkins was broken into several pieces and after looking at the biggest piece of the broken pumpkin upsidedown (bottom right piece in the left picture), Mallory said it was now a fox. And she’s right.

Bags. The girls went grocery shopping today and brought our own re-usable market bags. We wish we could use our own bags every time we grocery shop, but we like to re-use the plastic grocery bags to dispose of dirty diapers.
